Columbia Elementary
Paying it Forward to Our Local Families
for Christmas!
For the last five years, we have taken empowered our children to help those local families in need during this holiday season.  As Christmas morning should be a positive experience for all children, we want to be able to give this enjoyment to others.  For this reason, we are assigning specific children (without including names) to specific classrooms in our school. These classrooms will be empowered to bring in items for these local children in need.  After our students go home for Christmas Break and before December 25th, on behalf of our school, I will be blessing these families privately for their children.

The following classrooms are going to be in charge of the following children for Christmas:

Mrs. Ewers-Preschool Boy
Mrs. Gregory-Preschool Girl
Ms. Suarez-Preschool Girl
Mrs. Souhrada-Second Grade Girl
Mrs. Atkinson-First Grade Girl
Mrs. Luna-Third Grade Girl
Mrs Humphrey-Second Grade Girl
Mrs. Scott-Second Grade Boy
Mrs. Barteau-Second Grade Boy
Mrs. Thomas-Fifth Grade Boy
Mrs. Ferguson-Boy or Girl in KDG-Second Grades
Mrs. Justice-Sixth Grade Girl

No need to wrap any of these gifts.  Please make sure teachers have them by the last day before Winter Break, 12/20.

Tiger Up-This Wednesday (1:30-3:30pm):
This Wednesday afternoon we will be focusing on Peer Pressure with our students between 1:30-3:30pm.  Parents are welcome to attend our assembly from 1:30-2:15pm with Mr. Jerry Jacoby.  As we know both positive and negative peer pressure affect and will affect our students lives as they grow older.

During this time we will be discussing both positive and negative peer pressure which will include examples (i.e not just Alcohol, Tobacco, and Other Drugs) and will give them strategies to make positive decisions in their lives.

Thank you PTO!

The PTO will be collecting Box Tops for Education for our school again this year.   This is easy, free money to help support Columbia Elementary in getting supplies for our classrooms or fun treats/events for our students!  They will be hosting a competition amongst the school to see which class can collect the most box tops!  (This will be done four times this year).  Please feel free to bring in the box tops at anytime throughout the school year, and they will be applied towards your child’s classroom collection.  Each quarter, the classroom that brings in the most box tops will earn a reward.  This quarter, the willing classroom will have a
PIZZA PARTY

Directions:
  • Buy products at the store that contain the box top label
  • Cut them out following the dotted lines on all 4 sides of the label - the box top company is very strict on this!
  • Make sure the box top date has not expired!
  • Glue or tape them to the box top sheet, if you need more sheets, you may copy the sheet or use a separate sheet of paper to tape them or have the school send more home
