Good morning!

I hope everyone had a great long weekend!  This week we begin our first of two series for State Testing.  Yes, there are a lot of different opinions about this testing but what we need our students to do is to do their best and stay focused.  This is an opportunity for us to show the rest of the world that our students are truly the best and the brightest!  It is also a time for our for us to get a better measurement on where each student is in accordance with our State Standards.  Below is our testing schedule for our State Mandated Tests:

As we need our students to be prepared and focused to win this World Series, we want to reward their successes! If a student passes all state test sections for his/her grade level state tests with at least a proficient level, he/she will be rewarded with a Swimming Pool Party at Hawatha at the end of June 2015.  This is going to be a big Pool Party with lots of students, so we want each student to aim for the stars on these state tests.  It is vital that each student is on time to school, well rested, and ready to go on each day!!

On this past Friday, we had a valuable learning opportunity with our teachers.  During this time our teachers discussed and reviewed a couple new English Language Arts programs that we are considering to select one for the upcoming school year.  These two programs are being piloted throughout our district.  This piloting allows us to best weight out the pros and cons of each program and make a sound decision for our students.  There were fruitful professional conversations that occurred during our time together.  Following these conversations, we spent the afternoon in two different sessions revolving around better implementing technology in our classrooms.  Some of these topics included: Building Google Websites, Using Google Hangout for Distance Learning, Successmaker, and using Chromebooks in the Classroom.  I was truly impressed by the willingness and eagerness of our teachers to improve their instruction for our students.

Important Upcoming Dates:
2/17/15-PTO Meeting about 5K at 6pm in our library.
