Good afternoon!

I hope everyone survived their Back to the Future Day on 10-21-15! Wow it is hard to believe that most of us reading this blog remembers the day of sitting in the movie theater thinking of how crazy it was for Marty Mcfly to travel to the future to 10-21-15 with a powerful 1.21 gigawatts.  Time flies when we are having fun!

As I have already clipped two deer with my truck in the last week. I want to urge you to be safe on our roadways during this harvest season. I am sure the deer on your road are no different than mine, but I captured this video of the deer on my new street for your viewing:

Now back to business with a few updates (WARNING: Please do not read the following update while driving your Hoverboard through Mount Vernon...LOL!):

First Nine Weeks Goals:

Over the first nine weeks we had Kindergarten through Third Grade achieve their Reading, Math, and Behavior Goals for the Nine Weeks. We are certainly proud of these students! I will be spending time with all of these students just before lunch on Friday having fun playing with them on "The Big Kids Playground" as their reward for these great accomplishments. 


Second Nine Weeks Rewards:

If our students achieve their Reading, Math, and Behavior Goals during the Second Nine Weeks they will receive the following reward:

KDG-2nd Grade=Ice Cream Party

Grades 3-5=Snow Games/Sledding (Weather Permitting)/Popcorn and Movie

With all of us focused on excellence our students are able to accomplish their goals!

First Nine Weeks Awards Assembly:

Please know you are invited to attend our First Nine Weeks' Awards Assembly this Friday (10/30). We will be recognizing students in KDG-2nd Grade from 9:10-9:40am and Grades 3-5 from 9:45-10:15am. We always love to share the great accomplishments of our students, and to see you at our school to share this excellent student work!


Trick or Read-10/29/15

Please know we want you and your child/ren to join us Thursday night for our annual Trick or Read Event at Columbia Elementary. Please have your children dress up in their costumes and be ready to have a great time between 6-7pm at our school.  

Halloween Parties

On Friday, 10/30, we will be having our Halloween Parties at the school from 2:30pm until the end of the day. Please check with your child's classroom teacher as these schedules may vary per grade level. I am hearing that there may be a special guest at our school during these parties....Stay Tuned:)
