Weekly Blog 11-5-15

Good morning!

I hope everyone is doing well! I must say that I really enjoyed our Parent Teacher Organization Meeting this Monday night and I am looking forward to working with everyone to make sure that our school will achieve excellence. As the primary role of the Parent Teacher Organization is to support the school in our combined efforts towards excellence, I want to express the importance  I place on all voices being heard and all feedback being considered.  I view this body of people as representing the parents of our school.  While there is always a comfortable and relaxed setting in our meetings, I hope their is never any doubt about the value I personally place on our conversations together. Your participation in this group is a great value to our school and to me as a leader in our school system.

If you are not currently involved in our Parent Teacher Organization, I encourage each of you to attend our next meeting on December 7th at 6pm in our library.  It would be great to see more Fathers be a part of this group.

Students of the Month for October:

Yesterday, I really enjoyed spending lunch with our Students of the Month for October.  These students were: Bella Eaton, Isla Graham, Maleya Birkenshaw-Ragor, Kenna Grizzle, Taylor Tolle, Ayden Grant, Cameron McNamara, Sophia Wemer, Konner Daughriety, Alexis Cook, Nicholas Mitchell, and Emily Hoffman.

I cannot express to you in words how proud I am of our students.  We truly have great students here at Columbia Elementary! We enjoy watching them grow up both physically and academically everyday!

National Red, White, and Blue Day at Columbia Elementary on Monday, November 9th:

In honor of Veterans Day, please have your child wear Red, White, and/or Blue for Monday November 9th.

Thank you Energy Cooperative!

I cannot express our gratitude to The Energy Cooperative Foundation Inc. enough for their generous granted dollars of $6,575. These dollars purchased us 19 Chromebooks and 1 mobile charging cart for our students. Our students use this technology everyday and we are very grateful for everyone that supports these efforts. After this purchase with grant dollars, we are 69 Chromebooks short of being a 1 Computer (including existing desktop computers) for Each Student Building. We are going to continue to work towards this goal.

Donuts with Parents and Veterans Day Assembly-11/9/15

Following our Donuts with Parents Event, make sure you stick around for our Veterans Day Assembly at 9:30am. Our students have been working hard for you. Be sure you see the great talents of our students and their honor for our country.
