I hope everyone is doing well this holiday season! I know we have been extra busy with many fun activities and a lot of learning taking place at Columbia Elementary. I would like to take a moment and specifically point out the efforts of a few different groups:

Secondly, I would like to thank our PTO for all of their efforts! We are very blessed to have a great group of parents working together to support our students everyday. Most recently, I want to thank them for volunteering their time to manage our Secret Santa Shop. We recognize that you could do many other things with your time, but instead you have dedicated your time to us. Thank you! Another special thank to our PTO for purchasing five new Chromebooks and a Mobile Charging Cart for our students to use. As we are getting closer to having an one computer per one student learning environment, we are very appreciative of your support. Giving our students the tools and access that they need to be competive in the global market is vital for their success. Thank you again!
Lastly, I want to compliment our teachers. While my personal goal is to be in every classroom at least once a day for informal walkthroughs, I am required by law to complete two formal evaluations on teachers within their specific Ohio Teacher Evaluation System Cycle per year. At the end of last week, I completed the first of these two evaluations for this school year for those teachers. This meaningful process allows me to get deeper in the instructional practices within our classrooms. I want to honestly inform you that I am very impressed with the people that instruct your children everyday. I am very blessed to be working with a great bunch of teachers!

Two Very Important Fundraisers for Columbia PTO:
1) This Tuesday Night, please go to Wendy's (Main Street in Mount Vernon) and tell them you are with Columbia Elementary. Our PTO will earn 10% of all sales.
