Tiger Newsflash 2-15-16

2-15-16

Good afternoon!

I hope everyone has had an enjoyable weekend with your family and friends! This weekend brings back many special memories for my wife and I.  As it was two years ago that I asked a beautiful lady to marry me.  This decision two years ago, began our journey together to plan for another Special Day (see short highlight video by clicking hyperlink), on 12-6-14, our wedding day.  On our wedding day we were blessed by many of our family members and friends were able to join us.  This chain reaction of events would without a doubt change our lives forever.  I most say that I am very thankful that I married well...

Now back to business:) As an effort to improve our communication with you,  our district and building has been increasing our communication with you through Twitter.   Through our "tweets (short messages on Twitter)" you are able to read important information, see updates, and catch a glimpse of our students in action.

A couple years ago, I had NO CLUE what Twitter even was and I was a big Facebook user.  Seriously...NO CLUE!!! Today, I am using Twitter everyday to learn more about educating our students, becoming a better Principal, Firefighter and EMT, staying current on world events, and connecting with people on an international level. This way of communication has given me more of a focused conversation rather than reading about what someone had for dinner or some random life drama of a person on Facebook. While I use both Twitter and Facebook, I personally get more out of Twitter.

Below I have outlined some major questions for you about Twitter to help guide you:

Major question #1: What is Twitter (click on video below)?

Major Question #2: How do I use Twitter (click on video below)?

Major Question #3:  Why begin following MVCSD and Columbia Elementary on Twitter?

We are providing you with current important updates on MVCSD activities, events, and great pictures through our Twitter Feeds.  The teachers and I are tweeting out at least on a weekly basis about events and information specific to our building and specific grade levels.  This gives you another interactive way to share about the success of your child.

Major Question #4: How do I get started?

Step 1: Go To www.twitter.com

Step 2: Sign Up for a FREE Account

Step 3-Follow:

@Columbia_Tiger
@drmjdill
@Columbiakinders
@3_Columbia
@Souhrada_Brown
@mv_columbia_4th
@Humphrey2nd
@mv_columbia_5th
@MissSuarez5

and more....

Step 4-Begin to Interact:

Tweet out your "proud parent moments" of your child to #TIGERUP  (type right after your tweet)

We want to share this joy with you!

Step 5-Remember, YOU CANNOT BREAK IT!!
