Weekly Message | ||||
Good afternoon! I hope everyone is enjoying their weekend with your family and friends! It has been a great week at Columbia Elementary! We have Tigered Up by saying "no" to drugs and prepared for our future by interviewing both MS and HS students. It is so hard to believe we have already completed 100 days of school with so much more to come. There is no doubt that our students continue to impress us with their talents. Please enjoy your weekly updates below. Tiger Up! Matt PS-We are looking forward to seeing you at our PTO meeting this Tuesday night at 7pm in our library. | ||||

Tiger Up-1/31-ATOD:
Our Objectives were:
-Consequences that ATOD can have on your life: physically, emotionally, socially, academically, family, future, and etc.
We invited both Mrs. Alayna Anderson from The Knox County Health Department and 1LT Bryan Andrews from The Ohio National Guard to speak with our students on Wednesday about the dangers of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Other Drugs. Below you will see their presentation (and embedded video (last slide)) along with some excellent pictures: Feel free to use any of these resources to further discuss these issues with your child:
Congratulations to Our Students of The Month!
K-2 Students of The Month: Grades 3-5 Students of The Month:
Friday during lunch, we had a fantastic time celebrating the success of our January students of the month. It was great to listen to their stories and to enjoy our fellowship together. They are awesome children!
5th Grade Capstone Project:
At Columbia Elementary, all 5th grade students are required to complete a Capstone Project. This Capstone Project is intended to take what they have learned in grades K-5th grade and assess their ability to apply it to their future. A piece of this project is focused on interviewing both Middle School and High School Students about how to be successful at those levels and what to expect when our students get there. On Friday, our Fifth Graders traveled to the HS and MS for this experience. We want to prepare our students for success!
Please enjoy some pictures below from this experience:
